The Wood River Run is an annual 5k honoring the late Christian Wood, who passed away in a kayaking accident on the James River in 2018. On its fourth year, the Friends of the James River Park wanted a branding refresh, something totally different than the previous years.

I tackled this rebrand with no direction other than “nothing like the previous logo” and honed the feelings of summer in Richmond on the James into this single-color logo. Bright colors, an ornate typeface, an organic river, and a sun with rays of kayak paddles come together in this logo for a refresh I hope to see for years to come!
